13.03.2014

Works on the reconstruction of the "Marina Držića" street in Palilula had finally started. This road is 894 meters long, and before placing the new asphalt, we will first rebuild the water system-said Boban Džunić, president of municipality of Palilula.

" Marina Držića " street is one of the busiest streets in Palilula, which passes by the largest nurseries in Nis and the primary school" Branko Miljkovic, "which will also be reconstructed by the middle of this year. This street has an old water supply and sewerage systems.

There will also be the reconstruction of the roadway network, which will cost about $ 39 million from earmarked funds for periodic maintenance.

"First, we will reconstruct the water supply , said President Džunić . We know that beneath this street there is a supply network that is over 40 years old, and it is well known that this is not a healthy network, considering that the pipe is covered with asbestos. This street will be done systematically, it will be initially bonded with layer of asphalt and after that mine, as was previously the case, but we will work on water supply network first, and it will cost about $ 19 million," said the president of Municipality and added "We will work on the existing condition because some legal and property issues are resolved." Sidewalks will be up to 1.6 meters wide, because in some places they are very narrow, but there is no requirement that the current situation is different. "According to him, the works should be completed in a few months. It is important to do quality work- but to finish as soon as possible.

In addition to the modernization of water supply and sewerage networks and transport, infrastructure priorities of municipality of Palilula during this year, said President Džunić, are the care of children, the elderly, improving agriculture and employment.
